DeBedoya Dance Training is an online and in-studio Spanish Dance program specialized in Teacher Training created by Guillermina de Bedoya, with the aim of offering an extensive and precise Spanish Dance study plan.

The study program details and delves into each of the aspects of flamenco technique.

• October-December – Live classes on the these days 5 and 19, 9 and 23, 14 and 21

Flamenco Course objectives

• To acquire a command of space and body position.
• To acquire muscle, strength and power.
• To position your body correctly and know the basic principles of body alignment: The stability of the pelvis, the scapulae, the spine’s natural position, the alignment of arms and legs.
• To know the different dance styles to impart, in rhythm, footwork, movements and style.
• To be able to teach these choreographies: Tanguillo, Fandango de Huelva and Alegrías.
• To know all the footwork (zapateado) for the dances studied.
• To know how to place arms when clapping and the movement of arms and wrists.

How the flamenco course is structured

The training lasts 3 months. Each month we study a different dance:

• Level 1 – Tanguillo
• Level 2 – Fandango de Huelva
• Level 3 – Alegrias

1. For each level there are pre-recorded videos (in Spanish) that the student can use to learn and practice.
2. Every 2 weeks there is a class with Guillermina for 4 hours. The student can follow online through Zoom or in person at the studio. Guillermina will be communicating in English in the live classes for English speakers.
3. Recordings from previous live classes are also included in each section.
4. There will be 2 practice sessions for the student/teacher with students provided by us.

You will learn:

• General characteristics of Flamenco and Flamenco Dance
• Origins, history and protagonists of Flamenco (corresponding to the course)
• Anatomy, alignment and technique
• Technique exercises:
  • Arms
  • Hands
  • Feet
  • Twists
  • Center exercises, a small succession of steps that prepare us to dance

• Study corresponding to each style
  • The evolution over time
  • The style
  • The metronome
  • the instrument playing
  • The singing
  • The dance

• How and what to teach, class development
• What to fix
• How to organize the class
• Stretches

Aspects observed during the practice session as a teacher

• Physical Presence and Attitude
• Knowledge and mastery of the material
• Ability to organize the class
• Clarity in explanations
• How precise the corrections are
• What tools you use when leading a class: voice, body expression, etc.
• Ability to create movement, dance in students
• If they are motivated and motivate the student
• Reaction of the students during their practice class

Certification

After each level the student takes a test. Upon passing the tests and finishing the entire course all students receive certification of course completion with Guillermina de Bedoya.

Cost

The cost of the 3 month training is 1500 euros.

The payments can be made in 3 months or 5 months or in a lump sum. The first payment must be made the month before starting the training program.
